I was introduced to SK & the Sixers on the Rock Boat and they have become one of my favorite bands! Is there a live CD that has the same energy as the concersts? The CD's are good but what makes me a fan is the energy they have at the shows!

I'm rootin' for them to do a live CD. That'd be awesome. Right now, the closest thing they have to that is their DVD, which was filmed about three years ago.

That's what I do. I take the archives and listen to those for the energy. I think they should definitely do a live CD. Someone should get on this right away. Say, the Chicago shows this year or the New Years shows.

I may be completely making this up, but I remember having a conversation with Stephen about them making a live cd during this tour.

Ha! He told me as well that they were going to record a live album during that tour...I wonder what happened?

I think we are incredibly lucky that a). SK6ers allow taping of their shows. In my opinion, its the only way to get the REAL feel of the band live. There are so many great shows on the archive, I almost feel like I could live without a live CD (although it would be nice...) b). There are so many great people on this board (and off) that take the time to record the shows and share!

I've got to agree with Jen on this one... I love love love the shows on archives, especially if I'm lucky enough to have been AT a show that some awesome fan taped... then it's like reliving a great experience over & over again :) A live CD would be nice, but I think all the live shows available to us more then compensate for one, & express their energy & enthusiasm on stage perfectly.

So true. But I have never had a show I have been at a show that has been taped. But I have the same pleasure if I see something from the show on YouTube. But a live CD would be nice to give people. That is why I would want it.

There's really nothing like a live release. I'm a huge DMB fan and I have plenty of tapes and even unofficial SBDs but there really isn't anything like listening to a great mixed live recording. And I actually think the concert the made the DVD out of did not do them justice. A full show on nonstop music would be great. I think the sixers definitely should jump on the live release band wagon. Definitely when they're at their best.

I agree that the concerts posted at archive.org are fantastic - my favorites are the shows at Bamboo Room and Club Helsinki. The energy you get from the live shows is so different from the albums, it's almost like a different band, almost. I had a friend who'd never heard them listen to the albums and she was like "yeah, they're alright", and then I made her listen to the live recordings I had and then she Got It. She got why I'd travel hours to see this band perform.

At the Minneapolis concert, SK said (and I quote...) "I'd love to come back next tour and record a live CD here in Minneapolis"...now if that meant it was a plan, or he was just saying it, I do not know. But he did say it.
