My first sixers show was the night before in Schuba's, but it wasn't until the next night that I was hooked as a sixers fan for life at the Rave in Milwaukee back in the Fall of 2006. What makes this even better is that O.A.R. was there that night too.

The venue and atmosphere are great. I still consider it one of the best sixers shows I have seen, and that have been recorded, as the sound is excellent on it. I will still listen to that show at least once a week. If memory serves correct, that night was also the debut of big easy, which was played with O.A.R. during their encore.

I have since seen them close to approaching 20 times since then, but that Rave show will always be my 1(a) show, with my recent trip to the legendary bowery recently overtaking it.

I can't wait for this show. I just bought my 4 tickets on ticketmaster. I also bought the VIP parking this time, as trying to catch a cab to my hotel was the only thing that was an issue that night (hopefully it is legit parking). I recommend to anybody that lives in the Milwaukee/Chicagoland area to come see the guys there. With O.A.R. there as well, it will be an awesome night.

Just letting everyone know that they added this show as well as a show in Detroit, MI onto their myspace! Both shows are supporting O.A.R.

I agree. Not cool. I won't be at the show, however. I'll be in Chicago that day. Boo.

the guys were amaaaaaaaaazing last night! the crowd didn't seem to know their stuff -- in fact, a lot of people around us thought we were crazy for knowing the songs, lol. but the set was so fun :)

and wow, i had no idea how insane OAR fans are. i don't know much about OAR in general, but the fans were crazazy!

Obviosuly it's not shock that SK6ers were amazing...the stage antics were awesome...great set list but I did NOT enjoy the OAR show at all. It probably didn't help that the fans were all drunk and/or high as a kite plus the sound quality at the Rave was just terrible. I don't know..I'm still on the fence with OAR..no doubt they are crazy talented but SK6ers are still the best

I have nothing against people being drunk and having a good time. But the crowd was pretty stupid, I'm pretty sure I saw a guy throw a haymaker at another guy. The crowd surfing was really unnecessary. But the Sixers were great and Stir It Up was fun. Good show.

That's why I just hang out in the back at OAR shows nowadays. I'm too old to enjoy being up front and getting pushed around, hit in the head by a crowdsurfer, etc. SK6ERS set was pretty generic, which is to be expected when they're an opener and only get 45 minutes or so on stage in front of an audience who for the most part isn't too familiar with them. Not So Lost was hilarious when Boots was trying to tell his joke, but his mic wasn't working. So he'd say like 3 or 4 words while sitting behind his drum kit and Stephen would repeat them into his mic. The joke was really funny too (Not going to ruin it, just in case he uses it at another show :) )

I actually thought the OAR show was really good. They did a nice job bringing back some songs they hadn't played very frequently and incorporating them in the set (e.g. Someone in the Road and Conquering Fools.) I also like the songs off of their new album that they're pushing. Shattered is ok, This Town makes a good set opener, War Song and On My Way are really good. The one thing I didn't like was their "new song" that they played. It's called "Love is Worth the Fall" and it's off of the Twilight soundtrack. It sounded pretty bad and I'd be OK with not hearing again at any of their upcoming shows.

PS - Who's the new guitar player for the Sixers? He kicked ass!

the new guy is Sam Getz.
he's in Kate Voegele's band but has been touring with the Sixers recently.
    he's awesome but i don't think he's a permanent sixer...so don't get too attached.

I have learned not to get too attached to their guitar players, though they've had some pretty good ones.

lmfao don't get too attached...yeah we all learned that lesson the hard way with Kyle :( but that's okay. It was fun to see the guitar battle again with SK and Sam.
Brian, I'm sad you didn't like 'Love is Worth the Fall"...that's the only song I liked haha oh wells :)
Can't wait for a full on tour though...an opening set can only last me for another month or two :/

I know. The guys were great on Saturday but when he said that Milwaukee was their last song, I wished they had a full set. Stephen barely talked between songs and there were NO covers. It felt really weird! Here's hoping for tour dates soon.

(Also, a competent sound guy would be nice. Right? I mean, the guy was clueless most of the time.)

i know it was a generic set, but it was just so great to see them again. and goose drumming??? so exciting! that made the 13 hour drive there worth every minute!!! i am looking forward to seeing them open for toad the wet sprocket in columbus, that's for sure. hopefully it will hold me until tour dates are announced :)

I'm use to Kit being able to play a plehthora of different instruments (I always say his side of the stage looks like a small music shop), but I definitely can not picture him playing the drums. That's so awesome. What song was it during?

I can't remember exactly the song but Boots was playing the mandolin...I think...Chrissy don't hate me haha. But yeah it was kinda a "...huh?...." moment but nonetheless cool! I think it's so funny when artists switch up their instruments because everyone (including myself) goes nuts even though they all could rotate playing keys, drums and guitar any given day.

I think it was Uninspired Gambling. Stephen said that they were going to each play all of their instruments so Boots played Mandolin and Drums, Sam played Pedal Steel and Guitar, Stephen played Kazoo and Guitar and Kit was on Piano and Drums (I don't think he played Bass). But in order to keep the song going while Boots did his Mandolin solo, Kit moved to drums. It was a good moment that is for sure.

  30. I am so angry. My ticket for this show said it was starting at 8:30. We got there about quarter after. We get upstairs, and low and behold SK6ers were already playing. Someone we asked said they'd been on for probably at least 30 mins already. If the sk6ers hadn't been opening for O.A.R., i wouldn't have paid $30 bucks to see them. I mean, I like O.A.R., but I paid to see SK, really. I only caught the tail end of Thirteen, and I think they played like 2 or 3 songs after that. I was so upset. & on top of that, everyone was right, the crowd, or at least the people by me, were incredibly rude. People kept shoving past us, and so many of them were drunk or high... worst crowd I've ever experienced. Despite the fact that O.A.R. put on a great show, and what I heard of SK6ers was amazing as always, the sound sucked, the crowd sucked, and the show started before it was supposed to. I was so excited for this night, and was incredibly disappointed....
