Has anyone else noticed that the last 8 shows, they have literally played the same set each time... well not exactly the same but very close? I'm thinking maybe it's because of all the guests that have been playing with them, maybe. But it's sort of annoying. Every show they have opened with Start the Day Early.

The first half of the set at the 2nd show at Club Passim (which I was at and was great had an awesome time)which goes: start the day early, you ain't going nowhere, sweet sophia, nuttin for christmas, 4th of July, days, anthem... is the exact same as the first 6 songs for the 2nd show at Joe's Pub and the 2nd show at the Tin Angel except for You've Changed. They're only playing a total of 23 songs, something like that.

Don't get me wrong, the sets are good. But...lame, guys, very lame.

did you hear him say at passim when the guy wanted him to play diamond and he said they stick to the same songs during a tour? i guess they like playing the same songs during a tour and then change it up the next one?

i really wanted them to play satisfied man at passim but no luck.

I don't think it is annoying at all. I think it's just that this is a small tour and they do have friends sitting in that don't know their entire catalog. Normally they do a pretty good job of changing it up every night and doing requests when people shout them out.

At Club Passim, SK said he just didn't feel like playing Diamond. He said it's nice when people request stuff, but he doesn't always like to listen and that is fine with me!

Since this is a short-run of dates, and considering the guests they have with them varies from night-to-night I can totally understand why they're playing similar sets. We should be excited about all of the random sets we've gotten to see over the years, because not a lot of artists/bands are as good with variety as the Sixers.

This used to bother me....but I got over it. And it was an issue for me when I was seeing them play several shows on the same tour, but I traveled to the shows knowing what I was in for, and it also made those little rare gems that much cooler. Now I don't get to see them play as often and I'm glad I went to shows two nights in a row w/ similar setlists. Although I will say that I don't really make the effort when they're opening for big names like O.A.R.....six songs I've heard 25 times isn't really enough to travel for anymore.

yeah yeah yeah. But in general their sets are pretty different. and like I did say, it probably is because of the guests. but i feel like knowing that someone else at another show had almost the exact same set takes away of how special the one you were at. and yes it is a small tour, but still i think it's a bit lazy

pat mcgee couldnt even handle the songs that they have been playing in the tour. haha just kiddingg. but yeah i think it would be unfair to have to learn the bands whole list of songs for a small tour.

Like Laura said, you get over it. I'm still in the process of getting fully over it. This year I didn't go to 3 or 4 shows that I would of the year before cause I knew I'd get the same stuff. I have never gone to the OAR shows...paying twice as much as a normal show for six songs is not my idea of a fun time. Especially when there's a good chance that 3 of the 6 songs are Uninspired Gambling and Thirteen and Days. When they go on for 3 minutes too long, each. All I'd think about is how many other songs they could be playing instead of doing the 8th grade dance bit, the music medley, or the water off.

Nonetheless, the Sixers still have a setlist that is way more varied than any other band I've seen... A lot of the big sell out bands will play the same set to every arena night after night, so I think we should appreciate the fact that they vary it as much as they do. Plus, I think it is impressive that they still play a good bit of their older stuff from several albums ago. You've also got to remember that most of the crowd probably hasn't seen them a ton of times like many of us on this board have, so the songs aren't "getting old" to them.

At the Baltimore show at the 8x10 this November they played some uncommon ones like Blue Jean and Song for Sarah, and only reluctantly and after some thought played Days and Thirteen for the encore. It kinda looked like they didn't really want to but the crowd was chanting, and when I talked to SK after the show he said they played the two at the end because they felt they had got away with something by playing some songs they don't play very often, and felt they owed it to the crowd almost. So from a business standpoint I guess it makes sense to play their more known songs, and please the crowd as it is better for promoting and such... Anyway... thats my rant, and I don't think they are lazy at all; I wouldn't change anything about their setlists.

fair enough... but i'm not talking about their sets in general at all, i said that. and i did mention twice that it's most likely because of the guests. and i don't even care that normally all their sets are similar because they are awesome. i never said i didn't like the sets. i just thought it was lame of them to play the EXACT same thing everywhere. but whatever, they're good sets.
