Anybody else going to be here? It'll be my first time in Philly, so I'm a little curious about parking at the venue, getting around the city, etc. Any helpful hints appreciated.

i'm still contemplating making the trip.
i might try to catch a flight after work and get in JUST in time.
but i've also never been to philly so i have no idea what to expect.-elisePosted 3 years ago on November 17, 2008 LINK -
World Cafe Live is the best venue you'll ever go to. So cool, in fact, that I even had my 18th birthday party there.
The University of Penn offers free parking after 5:00 for World Cafe shows. The lot is just down the street from the venue. If you blink, you miss it. Haha. But go under the underpass, you'll go passed a bike shop and I think a small cafe... It's right there.

I've never been either. Did anyone else see that there are no cameras? Is that right? cause that would suck.
SarahPosted 3 years ago on November 18, 2008 LINK -
I've never, ever had a problem getting a camera into World Cafe. In fact, I don't even recall them ever checking my bag. Most venues pretty much have to tell you that no cameras are allowed, though, until they actually find out what the artist's policy is the day of the show.

The venue website gives different directions to "Upstairs Live" (Walnut Street entrance) and "Downstairs Live" (31st Street Entrance). Which entrance am I looking for? I know our seats are in the mezzanine.

Any entrance will get you to the show, just walk downstairs or up the ramp to the "Downstairs Live". Parking in the ice skating rink lot is free after five. 31st street entrance is across the street from the lot.

I'll be there and am very excited!
Elise, you have to come!!

What Elmo said -- Any entrance will get you where you need to be. I've always used the main entrance, which is on Walnut St. You'll see the staircase (or elevator) as soon as you go in. Just go all the way down to the bottom level.
Upstairs Live and Downstairs Live are two different venues. Upstairs is where the restaurant is and a small stage for smaller shows/bands. Then you have Downstairs Live, which is set up more like an actual concert venue. There's also actually going to be a show going on upstairs while The Sixers are playing downstairs.
Elmo, I've never used the 31st Street Entrance. Can you get into the downstairs lobby and hang out until showtime (like they let you do upstairs), or do you have to wait outside?

i'll be there - and i'm bringing a first-timer
world cafe is one of my favorite venues...but what time does the show start? i've seen a few different times for doors and the show starting...just wanna make sure i get there in enough time.

According to The Sixers, showtime has been bumped up to 8:15 (instead of 9), but doors are still at 8:00. If you want to see the openers, I would be there by 8 just to be safe.
--ChrissyPosted 3 years ago on November 18, 2008 LINK -
Is the restaurant open before 8:00? My understanding was that there is a restaurant behind the mezzanine seats for those who want to eat before the show. Do they expect us to choose between eating at 8:00 or watching the openers, or can mezzanine ticket-holders get up there to eat earlier? (And to set up my recording gear in plenty of time before the openers).

I was in the mezzanine last year for The Sixers. Since the mezzanine was seated, a waiter came around to take everyone's orders. If I remember correctly, there were a few tables set up, but mostly just seats. So, you should definitely be able to eat dinner before/during the show in the mezzanine. It's just the people with GA tickets who will probably opt to eat upstairs (if at all) before the show... or they'll have to hold their meals and eat standing up. Haha.

Usually, Clayton starts at 8:15 and then Pat at 9.
SarahPosted 3 years ago on November 18, 2008 LINK -
I really wanted to be able to make it to the Philly show, but I can't
Philadelphia is one of my favorite cities and to see the Sixers there would just be awesome. I hope everyone going has a great time!

so the flight i'm thinking of is still available...it gets me to Philly at 8:25. anyone know how far the airport is from the venue?
i wish it wasn't starting early. i really wanted to catch clayton & pat's sets again.-elisePosted 3 years ago on November 19, 2008 LINK -
According to Google Maps, about 16 minutes. Hopefully traffic would have started to die down at that time.

i wish i was goin to Philly

Not to be a damper or anything, but if your flight lands at 8:25 (assuming it's on time), there's no chance of you catching Clayton if Pat goes on at 9. The internet might say 16 minutes to the venue...but what it doesn't say is that you have to take 76, also known as the world's biggest parking lot.
Philly girls, you know what I mean. I hit traffic there once at 3 AM on a Wednesday.

oh i know i would never catch clayton's set....i wasn't counting on catching pat's either. that's what i'm upset about.
-elisePosted 3 years ago on November 20, 2008 LINK -
Hey Philly Folks...dont forget to grab a setlist .... or write it down or something, that'd be great
-JimPosted 3 years ago on November 20, 2008 LINK -

-elisePosted 3 years ago on November 20, 2008 LINK -
haha way to be last minute.... that's awesome!! have fun!
-colleen-Posted 3 years ago on November 21, 2008 LINK -
Don't forget!!! SET LIST!!! lol
-JimPosted 3 years ago on November 21, 2008 LINK -
How funny was this show? 3 encores. And a VERY drunk Stephen. Too funny! Can't wait for the recording.
SarahPosted 3 years ago on November 22, 2008 LINK -
Drunk Stephen was incredible... singing "Thirteen" when he should've started singing "Time of My Life"? Epic.
--ChrissyPosted 3 years ago on November 22, 2008 LINK -
definitely tops the list of my favorite shows
Posted 3 years ago on November 22, 2008 LINK -
Jim, I got Kit's setlist, but not all of the encores are listed on it and I don't remember what order they went in.
I know the songs were "Big Easy", "Satisfied Man", "Time of My Life", "Milwaukee", and "Glassjaw Boxer"... Anyone remember the correct order?
