    hey party people,

just when i was beginning to get really stressed about finishing my internship, starting school, and having some car trouble... i spent 5 hours in the er on friday and found out i have something called pyelonephritis, or a pelvic area kidney infection. this is my 4th straight day in bed, and i think i should be able to go back to work tomorrow as i'm pretty much over my fever, but it's still gonna take a lot to get over it. i'll have to go see the doctor a bunch of times, take a bunch of pills, deal with night sweats, all that... not fun. i know it's not the worst thing in the world, but for someone who's never been close to being this sick, it kinda sucks. so yeah, any prayers or words of encouragement would rock. i should be fine by the time fall concert season rolls around, but i have to be extremely careful as it could come back even after it heals. thanks =)

That sounds like absolutely no fun! It brings new meaning to the phrase, "when it rains, it pours." It reminds me of when I was in college, during my last semester I was so stressed out about graduating magna cum laude, finding a job, my wedding that was 3 months away (really, I was stressed about fitting into the dress more than anything else), and in the middle of that, my grandfather died from cancer. It was so stressful, but I guess it just taught me that what needs to get done, will get done...

While I'm sure it's not in your nature to just lay around, your body is telling you to take it a little bit easier than you have been. Don't be hard on yourself or push yourself too hard when you're trying to get over this nasty infection. Just try to relax a little bit and everything will fall into place. :D

wow, that's prtty shitty. i agree...you should take it easy even tho you may not want to. then just try to remember what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. i think i heard that in a song recently..i don't know...i can't remember.

i know it sucks to be sick but sometimes it's nice to have an excuse to stay in bed all day and catch up on all those soap operas you haven't been able to watch since 8th grade (Passions, anyone??)
embrace it and you'll be back up to high speed sooner than you think!

and this is the medical side of me speaking...when it's gone...drink cranberry juice! it might help to prevent it from happening again! (but unfortunately doesn't cure it once you have it)

yeah, i've been thinking about the cranberry juice thing a lot... i'll start on that after i'm done with my antibiotic in a couple of days. i didn't really watch the soap operas... more like cheesy stuff on the food network and the price is right.

Glad to hear you're on the upswing. Just be sure to not "overdo" it during your recovery!!

Booo that sucks. Get better. I'd use this time to get pity. I think one of the best parts of being sick is when you're like "hey can you get me a drink" and people are like "get your own drink" you can be like "I HAVE PYELONEPHRITIS!!!!!!!!!" especially do it to people who wouldn't know what that means.

Oh yeah, and I like TGIFridays pot stickers. I had them the other day. I really think asparagus fries would be better than green bean fries though. Mmmm.

i'm so planning on getting the spinach artichoke dip... and i do adore their margaritas and other tasty mixed drinks... but those are off limits for a long, long time :P

the bistro steak sirloin salad is my favorite. not too big, just the right amount of food, and it's somewhat healthy. normally i'd wash it down with a nice big electric lemonade but this time it's water or cranberry juice only
