...you all know that there are one or two songs that you just can't stop spinning at any given time. What's on repeat for you today?

    Mine:

Kid Charlemagne by Speechwriters LLC. It's a cover of the Steely Dan song about a San Francisco LSD/Meth lab tech. I dunno why, but the Speechwriters' version is just as addicting as the drugs would be.

    and, thanks to matt nathanson,

Pictures of You by the Cure.

i've been listening to cocaine by robin thicke a lot, it's got such a cool groove. and i've been listening to nas' new album like crazy. every time i forget to bring my iPod in the car, i pop in that cd (hip hop is dead).

oh , and online and letter to me by brad paisley! man, that whole album is fantastic. even if you don't really like country music, you have got to check out his new album, 5th gear. his writing is extremely clever and he plays a ripping electric guitar. he's just a pure talent.

  3. Not much of a serious song, but:

Stephen Lynch- Song for the Ladies
Blessid Union of Souls- I Believe

And on the note of Brad Paisley, seeing as how I'm from WV as well....The dude is as close to a country parody while still writing serious songs as it comes! Like everything he does!

and oddly enough, Blessid Union of Souls - I Believe. very random Parks!

Blessed Union of Souls- I Believe umm...one of my absolute favorite songs ever. i can put it on repeat and listen to it for hours. hahahaha.

Lately the following (sometimes very random) songs have been played a LOT on my computer...
Queen - Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy
Electric Light Orchestra - Sweet Talkin' Woman
Matt Nathanson - Come On Get Higher (from forthcoming album...it's so sensual I can't even handle it)
    Ryan Adams - Halloweenhead
Ike Reilly - Hip Hop Thighs #17

  6. Ryan Adams - Halloweenhead

I had that song on repeat up until I got into old 90's stuff and Stephen Lynch. That whole album is a little different from what Ryan Adams usually does, but ranks up in my top 3! Everyone should check it out.

Oh, and everyone should love Blessid Union of Souls...I"m not random, I just never made it out of the 90's---SORRY!

Ahh!! Blessid Union of Souls was at one point my favorite band (years ago). I loooove them. 2 years ago they came to my college and played and I could not have been happier. I have all their cds. Love everything from their self-titled CD and of course, Believe is amazing. So glad they are getting mentioned here!

And to stay on topic... I haven't been repeating a song like crazy lately - although I have been abusing Elvis Presley lately, thanks to my recent trip to Memphis. "Jailhouse Rock," "That's All Right," "Good Rockin' Tonight" and others are keeping me company as of late.

Songs I have repeated in the last few months: "Two" - Ryan Adams. "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" - Bob Dylan (from "Blook on the Tracks," the best Bob Dylan album) "Suspended" - Matt Nathanson. "You're Always Welcome" - Brian Factor. "Where We Gonna Go From Here" - Mat Kearney. "Last Goodbye" - Jeff Buckley (or anything off "Grace"). "River" - Joni Mitchell. "Girl in the War" - Josh Ritter. Aaaaand that's all I can think of right now.

Ike Reilly - Hip Hop Thighs

He's from my town! Woot, represent!

Haha, ok. My songs du jour:

To the Dogs or Whoever- Josh Ritter (sooo excited for the new album!)
The entire soundtrack to the movie Once (starring Glen Hasard, lead singer of The Frames)
    Mess of Things- Michael McDermott
and also The American In Me, Tread Lightly, Everything I Got, and Unemployed- Michael McDermott. I've been on a real Michael McDermott kick since I saw him on Saturday. Especially since I just got an advance copy of his new record on eMusic.

i wasn't saying it was random that you listen to the song. just random that we've both been listening to it a lot lately!
believe me. i am a child of the 90s and might never make it out alive!

laura- did you see the movie Once? i want to see it but haven't had the chance yet.

    flight of the conchords.
New Zealand's fourth most popular digi-folk paradists.
they have a new show on HBO that's quite hilarious.
i think the sixers should cover "if you're into it"
i can't get it out of my head

I LOVE Flight of the Conchords. I think the Sixers would enjoy them, and there are definitely covers to be done.

To stay a bit on topic, Chocolate by Snow Patrol is constantly, deliciously in my head lately.

  18. I haven't missed a Flight of the Conchords show yet, and I too would love to see them play If You're Into It, but wouldn't Stephen singing Jermaine's gay song to the guys, just be adorable? :D

Yeeaaahhh Elvis! It is Elvis month (30th anniversary of his death) so the man needs to be celebrated. Dwight Yoakam does a great cover of Elvis' "Little Sister." My mom used to listen to it all the time when I was young. Thanks for the suspicious minds cover, I've never heard his version!

This is so absolutely horrible that I am afraid to admit it, but I've been listening to "Fury of the Storm" by Dragonforce.

    Ack!

I think the fact that I've been playing "How We Operate" by Gomez and "We Will Become Silhouettes" by the Shins just as much may make up for it....
