I just saw the band on Rock Boat VIII and became an instant fan.

I'm a novice guitar player and am trying to pick up some of the easy songs. Big Easy seems to be a very simple G-C-D progression with a down-down-up-up-down-up strumming pattern. Am I close?

    Best to all...

PS. I really am ordering the songbook since I'm newly hooked on the tunes!

Yup, looks like you've got the gist of it. You've got the right notes, just throw in an Em and D/F# on the bridge, maybe listen to the strumming a little more and you've got it. Probably with just a little practice you might even be able to get some of the picking parts in there as well. Good luck! As far as the songbook goes, you will like it, it's a great resource.

now hopefully you're learning to play the song AND do the dance at the same time.

that's right, you can't master this song until you've got the hand motions down
