I think the causes (and the reasons behind why the SK6ers chose them) are excellent ones. I'd like to find out more about how to get involved. There are so many ways that we can all contribute and I'd love to be a part of it!

FYI, the new tour update email that came from Jess lists book drives in Boston and Burlington, and a Habitat for Humanity building day in Burlington.

The Sixers make me feel warm and fuzzy. They're like bunnies that are making the world better one little meadow at a time.

I think that's a great idea... I see so many homeless people in Chicago all the time and while I know most of them are the ones that made the poor decisions that got them there, I still feel horrible about it nonetheless.

Hey, you know what would be a cool thing to do? Since most of the Sixers shows I've been to are in the city, and there's a lot of homeless people in the city, I'd bring blankets and food and socks and things like that to give out to them. It's really fun to do, especially when you get your friends in on it and make some nice conversation with new people. What if we all made an attempt to do that in the name of the Sixers?

Of course you have to be very careful in the city at night, that's a given.

Kellogg on "military?"

Hey there.

Kellogg here. Sorry to just be getting to respond to Ephilei now, but I'm glad you bring it up and it's a fair question. Our reasoning in choosing two charities for the time the time being (Childrens Disease and Military) has to do with focus. We're involved with a number of additional outreaches Clif's Environmental, Breast Cancer, Wildlife Preservation...the list goes on, but one of the things that we thought would help us do 'more' would be to hone in on what was nearest and dearest to our own heart. Also things that we knew enough about to meaningfully educate those who are considering supporting the cause.

Food supply and starvation are absolutely major issues in the global economy (there is really no reason anyone should ever starve in the USA with Shelters and available food although sadly I'm sure it does happen) and of course I like you applaud anyone who is involved in an effort to help those less fortunate. The reason something like 'military' comes to the top for us isn't because it's more important then world hunger', it's because we personally have a burning desire to give back to the men and women who will risk their life so that we can have a better life. It's a real act of giving and I feel like SK6ERS can help give back to that orginazation.

We're always interested in hearing information about who needs help and where and though we can't do everything, our hope is that over the years we will get more involved in more areas of philanthropy. It's a pretty new aspect of our lives and one that we still have a long way to go in. Thanks for discussing this stuff all and please keep this thread happening and moving.

All the best.

Stephen

:) I love this board.

Well said. My dad was in the military for 20 years before he retired and he's technically a veteran (served in the Gulf War)...so this topic is very close to my heart. I do not agree with this war, but I 110% support the troops - always will.

Good job lads, I can't wait to donate. If the military isn't a worthwhile cause, I don't know what is.

I see where you are coming from...No matter what your idea is about the war right now, or wars in general, the U.S. government is not doing enough for these men and women stationed overseas, especially when they come back after having fought. There is always something that can be done to help these people so that they know how much they have meant to the american people. Stephen said it best the other day at a show...He said "No matter what your feeling about the war, those men and women have gone over there under their own will to let us at home do the things we want to do...like play music."

Long time listener, first time poster. Actually, I registered just to post this comment:

Why did you choose the military as one of the two benefiters of your charity? Millions die each day from starvation simply because they don't have the few dollars to afford food because of famine or poverty. I feel they deserve priority over any American. I'm not bashing Americans or the US military, I just feel that we should help people simply survive and worry about the quality of life a little later.

On the other hand, any charity is better than no charity and I commend you for whatever you choose to do.
